Rapper and lyricist Joseph James has become a renowned artist in his own right. Born in New York City and raised in Boston, Joey, born Jose Santiago, is known for making music that mixes the palpably personal with explosive rap minimalism.
His latest single from his forthcoming EP Josoy, “Hennessy,” was produced by Wes Santiago (Joey’s brother). “Hennessy” is a smooth combination of his signature oblique bars with the perfect laid back party production.
The emcee’s ambition remains unmatched; not only has he personally funded his own shows all over the country (including venues like Boston’s own House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe), but Joey just wrapped up his Tribe Tour that kicked off earlier this year. Josoy marks his first release as an independent artist.
